Product care recommendations

In order to preserve the optimal condition of our parota wood furniture, we provide the following recommendations:

Temperature:

  • To prevent the wood to expand due to heat or contract due to cold, we recommend the indoors controlled environment temperature to range from 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit with roughly 70 percent relative humidity. Extreme temperature, high levels of humidity or drastic changes of temperature could cause the materials to separate, crack or chip on the surface or its entirety.

  • Parota wood furniture should be protected from direct sunlight, exposure to the sun will increase the discoloration of the surface. Although the pieces may be covered from sunlight, take in consideration that, due to the natural aging process of wood, the finished surface will darken over time.

Regular use:

  • Excessive heat and liquids will damage the surface of the furniture, Duomo Dekorê furniture’s finish is made to withstand most liquids only for short periods of time. Exposing the pieces surface to liquids will stain and even permeate into the wood, causing damages that may not be repairable. We recommend the use of coasters for all drinking glasses and potholders for any hot items.

  • Duomo Dekorê furniture are never meant to be used as seats or ladders, standing on them or placing extremely heavy objects will cause structural problems and even irreparable damages.

  • Although we use a durable finish process on our pieces, sliding of heavy, sharp or rugged objects on the surface of the parota wood furniture, will scratch them and even create dents that may not be repairable. This type of damage will also occur if objects are dropped on the surface of the furniture.

Cleaning:

  • Dust particles buildup may produce scratches on the surface of the furniture, we recommend regular cleaning of the pieces to prevent such damage.

  • We recommend a damp cotton cloth moved in the direction of the grain for best cleaning results, moving the damp cloth in circles or against the grain will cause scratching of the surface. Do not use silicone or wax-based products to ‘polish’ the furniture, this will cause a cloudy buildup on the surface that may be difficult to repair.
